Cookie Policy

1. What is a cookie?

A cookie is a small data file that the website places on the visitor's device. Cookies allow the website to function properly, remember certain settings, and provide a safer user experience. Cookies alone are not suitable for identifying the visitor.

2. Consent and the cookie banner

The www.elf.hu website uses a cookie consent manager (Complianz). On the first visit, a cookie banner appears where the visitor can accept, refuse, or set non-essential cookies by category.

Consent may be changed or withdrawn at any time by opening the cookie settings (via the “Cookie settings” link available on the website). Withdrawing consent does not affect the lawfulness of processing based on consent before its withdrawal.

Functional (necessary) cookies are essential for the website to work and are therefore always active. Cookies, tags and embedded content in the statistics and marketing categories load only after the visitor’s prior consent. If these are refused, or consent is later withdrawn, Google Analytics and the Meta Pixel do not run.

3. Cookie categories

The website uses the following categories (aligned with the names shown in the banner):

3.1. Functional (necessary) cookies

These cookies are required for the secure and correct operation of the website; their legal basis is providing the service and/or the Controller’s legitimate interest. They include in particular:

• WordPress cookies (session, security);
• Polylang language preference;
• remembering cookie consent (Complianz);
• cookies required for the Beds24 booking calendar and card checkout (Stripe).

These cookies cannot be switched off in the banner. If you block cookies entirely in your browser, the booking calendar may be impaired.

3.2. Statistics cookies

These cookies measure visits to the website. They load only if the visitor accepts the statistics category in the cookie banner. If the category is refused, or consent is later withdrawn, the tag does not run. Their legal basis is the data subject’s consent.

• Google Analytics (Google Ireland Limited): pages viewed, number of visits, and approximate technical data (for example IP address, browser and device type).

Google may process the data produced by this measurement under its own rules, including outside the European Economic Area.

3.3. Marketing cookies and embedded content

These are active only after the marketing category is accepted. Their legal basis is the data subject’s consent. They include in particular:

• Google Maps embedded map (e.g. on the Contact page);
• YouTube embedded videos;
• Meta Pixel (Meta Platforms Ireland Limited): measuring the results of Facebook and Instagram ads, and recording whether a visit came from such an ad. Meta may process technical data (for example IP address, browser and device data, the page viewed, and a cookie identifier).

Without consent, a placeholder may appear instead of the map or video, and the Meta Pixel does not load. The content loads after consent is given, or after loading via the placeholder. If marketing is refused, or consent is later withdrawn, marketing tags and embedded content do not run. Google’s, YouTube’s and Meta’s own privacy notices also apply.

4. Browser settings

The visitor may also view, delete or restrict cookies in their own browser. Alongside any browser-level blocking, it is recommended to manage the statistics and marketing categories in the website cookie banner / settings, so that functional cookies needed for booking can remain available.

6. Closing provisions

The Controller reserves the right to amend this Cookie Policy, in particular in case of legislative changes, technical developments or the introduction of a new service. The amended policy takes effect upon publication on www.elf.hu.
